040 HD is designed to duplicate typical automotive, residential and commercial keys, including those with large bows or long blades. Designed primarily as an automatic style machine, the 040 HD can also be operated manually.

Jaw 3, "secure grip", four position vise jaws securely clamps most
residential, padlock or automotive keys without the need for adapters,
including double sided types.
- Dual function. Operate in automatic mode for convenience, or manual mode for special situations.
- Permanently lubricated cutter spindle shaft ball bearings rather than bushings. Bushings=Good. Bearings=Best.
- Hardened carriage shaft and cutter spindle provide extended service life. Steel shaft=Good. Hardened shaft=Best.
- Fast spindle speed provides smoother cuts.
- Cutter
is made of quality hardened tool steel, coated with titanium for longer
cutting life. High speed tool steel cutter=Good. Titanium coated cutter=Best.
- Wide spacing between vise jaws. Accommodates longer key types.
